Final Projects Taking Shape

As I look through your blogs, I can see that your Final Projects are starting to come together. With two weeks to go, most of us are in great shape. I look forward to seeing the end results.

Blogs are all set to go

OK, everyone has created their blogs, and we are off and running on final projects. I have gone through all of your blogs and reviewed the projects you proposed in Quiz 4. Now I am looking forward to seeing the projects as they develop.

Projects Coming In!

Several people have already finished their Final Projects and posted comments to our last discussions (5 & 6). The semester is winding down. This is one of my favorite times as we begin to reflect on our experiences during the semester. It is fascinating to see what people liked and what challenges they had. The course content for IDT 516 changes pretty rapidly, and many of the changes are the result of your feedback to me. I can't wait to see the rest of your projects.

New Song from New CD

In response to all the demand, here is a new song from the CD that my friend Nate and I are working on. Should have the whole thing finished this summer. This is track 14 (last song). I sing lead on verse 1, Nate on 2, both on 3. I switch to harmony on the chorus after the first round. Nate sings lead on chorus the rest of the way. All harmonies are me at the end. This song is pretty mellow (for those who ventured far enough down to fall of 2007 in this blog to hear tracks from the last CD).

Tracks haven't yet been mastered for volume, but it should be pretty close.

Blogs and Final Projects

Our blogs are for the most part in great shape. I have gone through them all, and added comments to them where appropriate. Remember the purpose of this assignment is to track your progress on the Final Project. The idea is to prevent last minute cramming, help each other out, and make sure you are on the right track. You want to avoid finding out that you have misunderstood the project guidelines after you turn it in! The project is also worth 1/6th of the grade, so should reflect that much work (hence the five weeks to complete it).

For those doing the Rubric option, there are hundreds of resources out there on the web, as well as in journals and other resources. Outside of providing general guidelines, I am avoiding literally telling you how to search for them, since that seems to be part of the goals of both the Final Project and the course. If you have any questions, let me know (email, blog, forum, etc.).

Spring 2009 blogs underway

Well, we should be starting to blog again for IDT 516. I have been getting everyone's blog urls lined up in a new netvibes tab, which will be shared shortly. I also will be adding my own words of wisdom to the Final Project process here. Also, feel free to check out older posts from previous classes.

You may notice there are two people in my picture. It's not that I have a split personality; I just work on writing and recording music with Nate, my good friend of 35 years. I plan to post up one song from my new cd shortly: to show how to add files and not for vanity's sake ;)

I look forward to seeing everyone else's blogs as we race to the finish line this semester.
